People that come to work when they know they are sick
Are you the kind person that comes to work when you know you are sick? If so, I don’t like you.
Now I’m not talking about having the sniffles and showing up to work. What I’m talking about is going in and telling people not to come near your desk because you have a fever, or a sore throat or you feel like you’re gonna vomit or whatever. If you are sick enough that you are warning people to stay away from you, then please, for god’s sake, stay home.
Why do sick people come to work? I couldn’t pretend to know because when I feel crappy work is the last place I want to be. Maybe they don’t want to waste their vacation time? Well, guess what, neither do I when I catch whatever funk you have. Maybe they’ve already used up all of their PTO time? That’s not my problem and I shouldn’t be penalized with cooties just because you’ve already used up all your time off. Maybe they think that the office cannot survive a day or two without them? Guess what, the office was fine before you started here and it will be fine when you leave. Your job is not that important.
My real issue with people that come to work sick is that they are selfish and inconsiderate. They don’t stop to think about all of the people, like me, that they could be making sick. I might not have health insurance, like a lot of Americans, and I might not be able to afford a trip to the doctor. I might not be able to afford the financial loss from having to miss work. I might have kids at home, and if I bring home your cooties and they get it then I’ll have to stay home with them. I might be going on vacation at the end of the week and don’t want to be sick the entire time thanks to you.
That actually happened to me not to long ago. I had a trip booked out of town. It was supposed to be a relaxing, fun time. Then some idiot showed up to work with a fever and vomiting a few days before I was to leave. I spent the entire vacation being sickly. What a waste of money that was.
