Travel on the cheap
I love to travel. But I absolutely hate having to spend money dining out and getting snackies from gas stations, airports, etc. I actually drive more than I fly. I’m a control freak and if I’m in a plane since I’m not in control. Sure, it takes me a few more hours (days) to get some place, but I am behind the wheel. And I get to see a lot of cool stuff that I would not have seen from a plane.
Anyways, I get tired of eating crap food on the road. And I get tired of having to spend more than I would like on said crap food. That’s why I take a little cooler with me. I put water or juice in it, maybe some other things to snack on or drink.
I am actually going out of town this weekend. I’ll be packing some bread, some peanut butter and some jam for road sandwiches. I’ll also have some vitamin water that I’ll get for around $0.90 each from Sam’s Club. Retail price at convenience stores is around $1.59! So, not only do I save loads of cash, but I save time too. I don’t have to wait in line at a drive through or sit down at a restaurant and wait for my food. Nope, just pull into a rest area, make a sandwich and back on the road.
And what to do about ice for the cooler? All hotels have ice machines. You can fill up your cooler with ice at each hotel stop!
