You know you’re frugal if…
As someone that is trying to climb out from under a mountain of debt, I am always looking for ways to save money. I think that a lot of people out there are trying to save money, but that does not necessarily mean that we’re frugal.
When I started savings my ziploc bags each day from where I take my lunch to work, it was not exactly met with support in my house. When I started washing them out and putting them with the dishes that were drying, well, that was the last straw. Apparently, I looked like a crazy person. But now, I am not the only person saving baggies!
When I started decreasing the amount of coffee I make each morning this week I was met with the following excited observation…
Wow, we’re getting so frugal!
What a moment of triumph.
Are you trying to be frugal too and need some ideas? Or are you wondering if maybe you are already frugal? Well, you know you’re frugal if…
- You save your plastic baggies for re-use
- You wash your plastic baggies out if that’s what it takes to get another use
- You decrease the amount of coffee grounds that you use, thereby making your coffee a little weak, just to use less coffee and make it last longer
- You trim the moldy pieces off the cheese block (hey, it won’t hurt you!)
- You only eat at restaurants when you get a free gift card from MyPoints (leave a comment if you want a referral or more info!)
- You recycle holey socks as cleaning rags
- You get your books from the public library
- Ditto on movies
- You drink a lot of water
- You use your free bill pay option with your bank to save on the postage and trip to the post office
- Your family gets their hair cut at home for free
- You save any condiments you get if you happen to eat fast food
- You have a pricebook for the grocery store
- You email or call your fave companies to try to get coupons for your fave products
- You have a clothesline in your apartment to cut down on drying costs
- You save soap slivers to make your own liquid soap
Those are some of the things that I do to help save money, hope you found the list helpful! Feel free to add your own thoughts in the comments!

Funny list! I will admit to 1, 4, 7, 8 , 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14 and a few of the other ones sound like good ideas but I had just never heard of them!
