One Snarky Chica with Issues

Yesterday I went to a comic book and toy collector show. I love going to these types of things for several reasons. There are always people that are dressed up and they either look really cool or really ridiculous. Either way it is a good time. I also like to see all the interesting stuff out there that people collect. I am not a collector of anything like that, but I do enjoy looking. And I was shopping for a friends birthday.

One of the things that amazes me are the trading cards that they have for various television shows. Sure, I knew that there were Buffy trading cards, which meant that there were probably Angel ones. I was shocked to see trading cards for C.S.I., Jericho and Veronica Mars though.

I did not really go to the show to make any purchases so as I moved from table to table I got really annoyed. It seemed that I could not look at something without a hungry sales person coming over and telling me something along the lines of “I can part with that for $45.”

Hrm. That’s great but I’m really just looking dude.

And if I made the mistake of lingering at the table after that first attempt at a sale then they wanted to hit you full force. Oy. I really hate this type of sales tactic. You see it in actual retail stores as well. Did I mention that it is annoying?

I have actually left stores where I was interested in purchasing something because of this type of tactic. Of course I have also been at stores where you cannot find a salesperson to help you if your life depended on it. I like for my sales people to be there in case I need them but to leave me alone. If I need your help, I will let you know, okay? And if I tell you that I am ‘just looking’ the first two times you ask it is not going to change the third time you ask.

It seems like you just cannot find a happy medium these days. Or maybe that is just me.

And just because I am a chica doesn’t mean that I do not know the “proper” way to flip through comic books in a box. And yes, that is directed to you, the rude man with the Buffy comics I was trying to look at. I ended up buying them from someone else’s table, so there.
