I hate apartments
I live in an apartment, which I have done for some time now. I hate it. I have always hated living in apartments. You would think that would have been enough to keep me out of debt. The thought that I could save up enough cash to get my own place so that if my freezer started leaking water down into my refrigerator I could call a repair person and have it fixed ASAP without having to wait on anyone else to take are of it.
Did I mention I hate apartments?
And this weekend my freezer was doing that leaky thing. I opened up the fridge to make some lunch and all I could hear was the running sound of the water running down the back of the fridge. That’s when I noticed it spilling out onto the floor. Oh joy of joys.
I called the apartment office yesterdy around 1pm to tell them about my leaky freezer issue. Apparently they are closed on Sundays. Hrmph! But I could leave a message for emergency maintenance. BUT if it did not fall under the list of approved emergencies then I would be charged a minimum of $50 for the service appointment.
Approved emergencies:
- No heat and under 50 degrees outside
- No AC and over 80 degrees outside
- Fridge not working for more than 2 days (!?!)
That’s it. That is the extent of approved emergencies at my complex. So, now I have placed the service call today. It is after 2 in the afternoon and still no sight of the maintenance guy. The funny thing is that I have looked online and saw what the likely problem is. A clogged defrost drain. But you have to have a turkey baster to flush it out with warm water and I do not have one.
I really hate living in apartments.
I have got to get out of debt so that I can fix my own freaking fridge if it starts acting wonky.
