Skip the gym membership and get a Wii instead
Getting motivated to work out or to go to the gym can be hard. If you have worked all day then the last thing that you want to do when you get home is go to the gym. Trust me, I understand that completely.
I do have a gym membership. I got it for free when I signed my apartment lease. It was a great benefit, but sadly not one that I have gotten a lot of use from. The sad part is that the gym is very close to my place. Let’s face it – working out is not fun. There is pretty much nothing appealing about it to me. I go to the gym when I can though because I want to be healthy and physically fit. And when I do not go I feel guilty about it – but not guilty enough to actually go! Thankfully I am not paying for that rarely used gym membership.
I think about working out a lot. A whole lot more that I actually go to workout! It is easy to fool ourselves into thinking that we do not have time to work out. I do that daily. Well, at least I used to until I found a new way to work up a sweat and get my heart pumping.
A few weeks ago I bought a Nintendo Wii. I have wanted one since they first came out but was trying to practice restraint and wait for the price to drop. The price has not dropped and I still wanted one, so I splurged a little. I love my new Wii. And I was more than a little shocked when I got up the morning after I had gotten it and my arms were sore. Why were they sore? Wii Sports.
Wii Sports is the game that comes pre-packaged with the console. It has tennis, golf, baseball, boxing and bowling on it. And each one leaves me with sore muscles the next day. It’s kind of crazy that a video game can do that. But I tell you, spending an hour playing Wii tennis gives you quite the workout. I even play it left-handed sometimes (I am right handed) to help make my left hand stronger.
Thanks to my new Wii, I am getting a daily workout that lasts longer than my workouts at the gym! And the best part is that it is loads of fun! If you are looking for a fun and easy way to get a little workout each day I totally recommend getting a Nintendo Wii. They are hard to find in stock though, so I suggest watching a site like Slick Deals for info on when stores will have them in stock. You can sign up for a feed of their forum posts, which is the best way to find out when Wiis are in stock, at least in my opinion.

We have a Wii and it is awesome! I just wanted to let you know that they are coming out with a new game called Wii Fit and a balance board. (It is in the works and I am unsure as to the exact roll out date)
More info and a short video can be found here http://e3nin.nintendo.com/wii_fit.html
I am not affiliated with Wii at all. I just love it and can’t wait for this game to come out!

The Wii sounds like a lot of fun! My question is how long do you think this will last? Are the games so good that you see yourself playing them a year from now or will you have to buy more games? What works for me as far as workouts go is to be part of a group (martial arts for me). We get a feeling of community and it doesn’t seem like “work.” I also had a gym membership at one time and only used it for about 9 months.
