How I Saved Over $40 A Month On Car Insurance

Posted by chica with issues under money issues

Recently it was time for me to renew my car insurance. When I got all of the paperwork in the mail I was shocked to see that the monthly premium has risen to almost $120 a month. And this was for one little crappy car and I have no accidents or anything on my record.

So I decided to do some investigating to see if I could get a lower rate.

It did not take long for me to find a better deal. However it did take some digging.

I was with Progressive. I got quotes from Geico, Nationwide, Grange, AllState and a few other local places. Most of the quotes came in around $100.

When I called AllState though I was let in on a little secret by the CSR on the phone. Apparently it is not advertised, but if you can show documented proof that you have been insured for the last 5 years then you get a heck of a discount.

So, now I am with AllState. And my monthly insurance payment is around $70!

I was totally expecting a Gieco commercial haha.

But yes, Allstate rocks. Once you’ve got good terms with them you’re all set. Unfortunately I had some points added to my record last year. Does not affect my Allstate bill, they don’t check your record once youre a customer. In fact, I’ve gotten a few refund checks sent to me as I get older and my insurance history with them gets longer.
