Are you creating the life that you deserve?
Lately I have been giving a lot of thought to my life as far as where it is at and what has gotten me here and also where I want it to go. Some people might call this a midlife crisis. However, I hope not because dying at almost 60 would be a bummer.
I have mentioned before how the consequences of debt have caused me to live my life in a way that I do not like. And I know that I am not the only person out there feeling like that. But it is not just debt you see. Too many people are living their life by just going through the motions.
It bothers me that I have to go to work to a job that I do not like only to end up too tired to do anything else when I get home. I see the exact same thing in many of the people that I know. Who deserves that? No one.
Most of the people that I know are either completely unhappy with their lives or have been so miserable that they have gotten to a place of indifference and complacency. Of course, it could be that I just gravitate toward miserable people, who knows!
I do know that I do not want to get to a comfortable place of indifference and complacency. I want to live the live that I think I deserve. I want to get up each morning with a purpose and have a real passion for life. I have goals! Sure, they’ve kind of ended up on a completely different road than the one that I am currently traveling down. But I’m optimistic that there is an exit up ahead and a place where I can reconvene with my goals.
So, how does one go about rebuilding and re-creating a life that they deserve?
I am by no means an expert, but here are the steps that I am taking to create the life that I deserve.
First, I am getting re-acquainted with those goals. We haven’t seen each other in a while so it’s kind of like an awkward first date.
Next step - action plan. I’m a big list maker so for me this means writing every little thing down. And seeing it on paper helps make it more real. It’s also a good way to organize your thoughts.
Next, come up with a little mantra for yourself. You know, just something you can repeat to yourself to keep you on track during the hard times. Sure, it might sound a bit ridiculous as you are reading this, but just give it a try.
Avoid negativity. I once read about people that are “aura leeches.’ Basically the gist is that these types of people make your aura brown cause they are full of negative toxins. It’s a little new age-ish for me, but it’s a similar idea. For me this would mean spending less time with the complacent peeps.
Try to maintain a positive attitude at all times. I did a positivity challenge a while back with some great results.
What are you doing to create the life that you deserve?
