Feeling like a company doesn’t value you?

Not too long ago I discovered that my job was listed in the Sunday paper ‘jobs’ section. So, I suspected that my days were numbered. However, I am still employed. For how long though, I do not know.

At first, I was a bit mad about it all. I came into the position as a temp and was promised to be hired on at the start of the New Year. Instead I am still a temp, which means no health insurance, no 401K and getting paid less than I would if I was a permanent employee.

Now I am thinking that it is probably a good thing that my days are numbered.

My boss and I have different ideas in regards to boundaries. Specifically I think she should respect them and she refuses to. And the longer I am here the more I get the feeling that this is not the kind of company that I would want to work for long-term. You see, this company treats their staffing agency employees like second-class citizens. This is not the first time I have gotten a job through a temp agency but this is definitely the first time I have experience this type of treatment. I am not allowed to attend department meetings as a temp, even though what is being discussed applies to me directly. And after department meetings everyone gets a two hour lunch because they go out to a restaurant. Everyone but the temporary employees that is.

What a horrible way to build morale! I have to wonder if they are aware of the message that they are sending? Or am I the only staffing agency employee here that does not feel valued?
