Things versus experiences
I make no secret about the fact that I have more than my share of debt that I am trying to pay off. Most of that debt is due to weekend out of town trips and an addiction to seeing live music. And let me tell you, concerts can be pretty expensive if you go to enough of them in a short amount of time. In cities other than the one that you live in.
While I am not happy about the fact that I have the shackles and chains of debt around my ankles, I do feel good about why I have the debt. You see, I have a friend that tells me the exact number of DVDs and books that she owns pretty much every time we talk. The number always goes up. She also talks to me about living paycheck to paycheck. She also has her fair share of credit card debt. However her debt is because of buying things where mine is buying experiences.
Sure, I regret the whole getting into debt thing. But it makes me feel good that it was not just for all random junk. At least I had some great experiences from it. I think if my debt was all due to buying things I’d be really, really upset with myself.
