100 calorie packs, or eating bad in moderation
I have a friend that is dieting and buys a lot of those 100 calorie packs of different foods. I am sure that you have seen them at the grocery store. You can get 100 calorie packs of things like potato chips, cookies and other snacky items.
She knows that I am trying to eat healthy and recently wondered if I was buying these items.
Personally, I fail to see how eating crap in moderation is healthy. Chips –a-hoy cookies are still bad for you whether you eat 100 calories worth of them or 500 calories worth of them.
Clearly, the object of these 100 calories packs is an exercise in portion control. And for people with no willpower, like my friend, it apparently works wonders. However, I can’t help but remind her that she is still eating pre-packaged crap.
But she’d rather work on portion control than a healthy lifestyle change. I don’t understand it. And she doesn’t understand why I don’t get it!

But if she’s craving it, at least she can satisfy some of the craving without eating the entire box.
Some people just NEED to have that kind of pre-packaged portion control (although it costs much more in the long run too)…
But you’re right - she should really look at changing her lifestyle as a whole, and just allowing that kind of 100-calorie crap once a week or so
