People who insult others behind a shield of anonymity

Posted by chica with issues under general issues

One of the things that I hate about the internet are the people that go onto other people’s blogs or even to message boards and insult people as “anonymous.”

It seems that you see it most often on blogs though. JW at Need to Be Debt Free seems to bring a lot of these type of people out of the woodwork. I think if I got as many mean comments as he did, I would just disable comments period. I actually had to do this a few weeks back on a site where I talk about politics regularly.

I recently got a comment by someone like this on one of my other sites. And I have to wonder - what type of person is this? I mean, do they spend all of their time searching for people just to be mean to? Of course, it is even more disturbing that this sort of behavior brings people joy.

I just don’t get it. If you do not like what someone is saying - then do not read it! It is really that simple.

And I have no problem with someone disagreeing with something that I have to say. But there is no need to be rude about it. And one thing for sure - they never leave their name, email address or URL to their own blog. Why? Can they dish it out but not take it when it is aimed at them? I really wish people like this would find new hobbies.

Exactly. *rolls eyes* I tend to take those Anon comments and make a post out of it, so… :) they’ve given me blog fodder
