Refresh by going MIA
In case you have not noticed, I have been a little MIA since Tuesday. Apologies for that. It was not intended, but it was well worth it.
Since Wednesday morning I have been throwing caution to the wind and taking things as they come, so to speak. Sometimes you just get up and decide that today the same old schedule is just not going to cut it for you. Wednesday was one of those days. I started with an impromptu visit to the arcade. I had a promo offer from my email where if I charged my card up with $10 of credit I could end up with $30 total in game play. Score! That was the best $10 ever spent. Sure, I am trying to pay down some debt and technically it would have been better served going to a credit card or a student loan. But remember - that normal schedule was not working. At least for one day.
Okay, maybe a day and half really since it took me till three in the afternoon on Thursday to get back in gear.
To make a long story short, I shirked my regular duties and responsibilities for a day. I went to the arcade. I went to some art supply stores. I went out for a nice lunch. And then I had popcorn and rootbeer for dinner. (I am not kidding.)
It was so refreshing and a great way to recharge.
Today I have a zillion blog ideas. And as you may remember I have about 30 sites that I work on. I am also jazzed about sending out what I need to for those freelance opps that I had been procrastinating on. And as a bonus I spent the morning talking with someone that came across my resume (I’m not job hunting but it was posted on some sites from a while back) that wants me to consider being a consultant for their accounting department. I am waiting for more info on that opportunity, but if it pulls through and all is well, then that would be a semi-regular pretty sweet pay day. But that is kind of off-topic
What the takeaway here is, at least for me, is that by totally disrupting my normal schedule I was able to recharge. As a result I am feeling pretty stoked about things that I am working on, where I had gotten to a point of routine and complacency. It looks like, at least for me, that taking time away from the day-to-day routine is essential in staying refreshed and energized about projects. So, if you are working on something and not seeing the results that you want or that you like, why not take some time to refresh by going MIA for a little while!
