You shouldn’t do all of your grocery shopping at one place
Have you ever had one of those moments where you realize you did something really stupid that ended up costing you money? I just had one of those this morning, and it was painful.
You see, I have two grocery stores, a Target and a Super Wal-Mart all within a mile or two of my apartment. I do most of my shopping at the grocery stores as they double coupons. And one of the grocery stores gives you $0.20 off each gallon of gas at their gas pumps every time you spend $50 on groceries. Add on the fact that this is the new, nicer store and I end up there most often.
Well, a while back I mentioned I was looking for sugar alternatives and had given pure maple syrup a try. It was like $18 for a big thing of it at the nicer grocery store. I had looked at prices on Amazon though and thought it was just one of those things that you could not get a good price on.
Over the weekend a new store opened up down the street. I had gotten some coupons in the mail for it, so I went there this morning to do some shopping. I was checking prices on things I normally buy as well. Imagine my surprise when I see the exact same size of pure maple syrup for only $9.64 at this new store! And it was not even on sale, this was just the normal price.
So, by getting comfortable doing almost all of my shopping in the same place I ended up costing myself about nine bucks just on this one item. It’s downright shameful, isn’t it?
