Looking for fuel efficient cars?

Posted by chica with issues under general issues

With the rising gas prices there are a lot of families out there that are looking for more fuel efficient vehicles. And over the past few weeks I have seen several articles touting the most fuel efficient vehicles. If you have seen those articles too, then you already know that they all come to the same conclusion - buy a hybrid. But, you can have a fuel efficient car that is not a hybrid. In fact, I do. But first, let’s look at a few of those hybrids.

  • The Toyota Prius gets around 47 mpg.
  • The Honda Civic hybrid gets around 43 mpg.
  • The Ford Escape Hybrid SUV gets around 42 mpg.

I drive a Corolla. I keep my tires aired up. I don’t drive around with a lot of heavy stuff in the trunk. I don’t speed (anymore!).  I average around 34 mpg. That’s pretty darn fuel efficient if you ask me. So, if you are looking for a fuel efficient car, do not get suckered into thinking that it has to be a hybrid. Sure, you can get better gas mileage with a hybrid but the price tag is also a bit more.

I wish I could buy a more fuel efficient car. I am upside down in a car that gets me 15mpg. There is no way that I can sell it for what I owe because it is a 2007.

I found your site from another blogger. I was wondering if you wanted to exchange links. I am a new debt blogger blogger with $73K in debt.
