The key to eating healthy at restaurants

Planning ahead.

That is the key to eating healthy at restaurants. That means never blindly selecting a place to dine at. It is very easy to look up the nutritional content of the dishes at your favorite restaurants.  Sure, there are some places that do not make that info available. You can guess. Or you can stop going there. Or you can employ another little trick that I have.

Eat a little something healthy before you go.

Let’s say that you are going to a restaurant that does not make their nutritional info available. Before you go, why not have some roasted almonds or a small salad or bowl of soup at home. Then, when you get to the restaurant you only need to eat something small. Depending on what you ate before, you could order a side salad or a broth-based soup. You could probably even safely choose something like a baked potato - as long as you do not order it loaded!

And if nutritional info is available make sure you know what to avoid and what your good options are. Remember that sometimes restaurants can make things not so healthy that would be healthy if you had made it in your own kitchen.
