Observing others financial choices, part 4

Posted by chica with issues under money issues

It is always interesting to me where people spend and where they skimp when they are in financial quicksand.

My relatives send their kids to a private school. My sister-in-law smokes name brand cigarettes. My brother-in-law drinks name brand beer. Every single night. The kids wear the nicest clothes and so on. They regularly eat fast food. They buy Mt. Dew, Diet Pepsi and Pepsi. And there is name brand make-up and other beauty supplies. They eat name brand chips, soups, cookies, ice cream, canned goods, boxed items and so one. Barely any generic foods.

They buy generic toilet paper. I mean, the really bad stuff. It makes gas station toilet paper seem luxurious. They buy generic paper towels. They have had a broken microwave for what seems like forever. Their TVs are all green instead of showing normal color, except for the new $800 flat screen they bought last month. They have shag carpeting from the 70s still in the house.
