Identity theft is a scary thing

Posted by chica with issues under Commercial Breaks

You know, identity theft seems like a pretty scary crazy thing to me. I mean, if someone happens to steal your identity there are not enough checks and balances in place to make it easy for you to rightfully reclaim your identity. I mean, you are always hearing about someone that had their identity stolen and can’t get a job and such because they are having such a problem getting things straightened out with the credit bureaus and what not. Now, before when I had way more debt than I do now, I was not too worried about it. I mean, there was no way that someone was going to steal my identity when I was broke. But now that I am paying things off like crazy I would really hate for someone to steal my identity after I have worked so hard on it. That is where a service like lifelock comes into play. You see, there have been 40 million credit card numbers stolen, so you just being careful does not seem to be enough these days. I mean, there are over 9 million victims of identity theft each year! And that is just crazy! I would be really upset if my identity was stolen. I think it would also be something that could prove to be financially devastating since it would ruin your credit and what not. I do not even know how I would begin to deal with that. I think that is what makes a service like Lifelock so appealing as it is like having someone else to help you keep your identity in check.

In theory Lifelock seems like a good idea, but when the CEO of the company, the one who gives out his SSN, has over 25 different people using his identity, you have to wonder how great a product it really is. Also one of the co-founders came up with the idea when he was sitting in jail for skipping out on a casino marker.
