Is eBay over?

Posted by chica with issues under general issues

I used to sell things on eBay a lot. Back in the day I used to buy a lot of things on eBay too, but that was a long while ago. Before I got into blogging I sold a lot of ebooks and digital download items on eBay. I also sold stuff that I had bought elsewhere for cheap and I knew I could re-sell for a profit for a while too.

Once eBay changed the way they handled digital downloads a little over a year ago I haven’t really been using eBay so much. Actually, I have stopped using it all together. I still get their emails though and it seems that they are making a lot of changes.

PayPal is now the ONLY form of payment that you can do.

They are capping shipping costs in categories like “books” - and they are not taking into account that hardcover thick books exceed the amount that they have set.

They’ve made it so that sellers cannot leave negative feedback for wonky buyers.

And those are just the changes that I remember sticking out to me.  It seems like they are making changes that are going to kill eBay. I actually do not know anyone that uses it anymore. Maybe eBay is already dead?

I rarely use E-bay anymore just for the reasons you describe. I had a horrid transaction with a seller but I can’t leave the negative information. Half.com, an E-bay sister site, uses a flat fee for shipping books/DVDs/CDs.
